The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism


The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training aims to provide the health and care workforce with the right skills and knowledge to provide safe, compassionate and informed care to autistic people and people with a learning disability. This requirement is set out in the Health and Care Act 2022. There are two tiers of training dependent on your role:

  • Tier 1 for non-patient facing staff – comprising of completion of 1.5 hour e-learning module, PLUS attendance at a follow -up 75 minute interactive webinar
  • Tier 2 for patient facing staff (this includes non clinical staff who have patient contact such as receptionists, ward clerks)  – comprising of completion of 1.5 hour e-learning module, PLUS attendance at a follow-up 1 day face to face interactive training
