Cornwall Primary Care Training Hub and the Future Skills Institute at Truro and Penwith College have collaborated to provide a new short training course in essential clinical skills competencies for Health Care Support Workers working in primary care settings.
It will cover essential clinical skills required by primary care providers such as:
- demonstrating professional practice
- undertaking physiological measurements
- phlebotomy
- ECG
- treatments and dressings – wound care
- dementia
- diabetes observations
- diabetic foot checks
- NHS health checks
This is an excellent opportunity for career development of Primary Care HCSWs and is particularly suitable for those with previous healthcare experience but new to Primary Care. The knowledge and skills acquired through the Skills Bootcamp align with national occupational standards at Level 3. Learners who complete the Skills Bootcamp may be able to reduce programme duration if they progress on to further accredited qualifications.
We are awaiting confirmation of funding for a further programme. In the meantime, if you are interested in receiving further information, please register your interest by clicking on the button on the right.
