Job Title: Medical Receptionist
Accountable to: Practice Manager and ultimately the Partners
Aims & Objectives:
To work as a member of the Wadebridge & Camel Estuary Practice primary care team, understanding and valuing each person’s individual role. To provide clerical and administrative support and thus to aid the smooth running of the practice.
To greet patients in a friendly and courteous manner at all times.
To answer telephone calls in a polite and professional manner.
To ensure that strict confidentiality protocols are adhered to.
To respond to patients’ requests including making appointments on our computerised system.
To respond to patient and visitors general enquiries appropriately.
To deal with telephone enquiries, answering incoming calls promptly and passing messages to other team members as appropriate.
To check and update patients’ addresses, telephone numbers etc, on computerised records.
To undertake necessary administrative tasks including filing and scanning.
To be responsible for ensuring that at the end of surgery telephones are switched to night service and the building is secured.
To attend regular practice meetings to facilitate good communication between all members of the primary health care team.
To attend monthly training sessions at the practice and undertake any necessary training as and when appropriate.
Opening and securing of premises when required.
To carry out such other duties, appropriate to the post, as may be allocated by the practice manager or the doctors.
