Join Our Cornwall Locum Bank

If you are a Locum GP looking for a work, you can use the Locum Bank hosted by Kernow Health as a way of viewing shifts posted by Practices, and book yourself directly into the shift. It is free to sign up and we don’t charge any fees. We also undertake the recruitment checks for you on behalf of Practices, so that you don’t have to provide this every time you work with a new Practice. Joining our bank also offers you access to an NHS email, and additional training opportunities for those of you who pick up shifts regularly.

We currently have lots of vacant shifts available for you to view and book, so please email us at kernowhealthcic.workforce@nhs.net to set up an account.

Mentoring

We provide you with the opportunity to receive individual mentoring from a qualified GP mentor in Cornwall. Alternatively, we offer you the opportunity to train as a GP mentor, to support other GPs locally, particularly newly qualified. If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please email: kernowhealthcic.workforce@nhs.net.

Locum Peer Support

If you are a Locum working in Cornwall, we are now offering monthly, virtual peer support delivered by a local GP. This is an opportunity for you to share issues, connect with your peers, and receive regular support. Padlet notes from each session are also produced, which can be used as evidence for your CPD portfolio.

Sessions run on a Monday, monthly via Zoom, between 3.00-4.30pm. If you would like to join one of our sessions, please book your place using booking form

Education, Training and CPD

We run regular GP updates with Red Whale and NB Medical, which are subsidised via the Training Hub. We ran these events earlier this year, so are currently finalising dates for next year.

Details of the events and booking are available on our courses pages or for further information please contact: kernowhealthcic.workforce@nhs.net.

GP Locum Mandatory Training

We can offer access to safeguarding and life support training. If you would like to access this, please complete the form and we will be in touch with course dates. Please note that if you are not part of the Cornwall Locum Bank there may be a charge.

Locum Networking Event - 2024

We are planning a GP Locum networking event in the new year, with a guest speaker. There will be a buffet and refreshments on arrival. This event will also a great networking opportunity with colleagues.
