Shapes Toolkit – Resilience Training for Health and Social Care – starting 22 September 2022

Thursday 22 September 2022 and Thursday 6 October 2022

You must attend both sessions.

This is a 2 half-day interactive virtual course based on the Shapes Toolkit developed by Dr Rachel Morris.  The Shapes toolkit offers a ‘toolkit’ of resources to address the different issues they face.  The programme is a blend of neuroscience, coaching principles and practical productivity and resilience techniques.  The Shapes Toolkit is designed to help individuals become more productive, and to help those with people management responsibilities to have better conversations with their team around stress and resilience.  The Shapes are seven different key productivity, resilience, and coaching tools to help you take control of your time and workload, increase your wellbeing and change your response to stressful situations.  As they are visual and tangible, they provide a way for people to identify a way of thinking that will work for a specific situation.

This training is suitable for GP trainees, GPs, Nurses, AHP’s, Practice Managers and other members of the Primary Care team.  It is a powerful team development activity.

Outline of the Course

Session 1:

This session examines how stress effects our performance, looks at the main causes of stress in primary care, and how to recognise when you or your team are showing signs of stress.  Using the ‘in the corner’ shape you will look at how to change your response and reduce your stress.

The Zone of Power will help you to take more control of the things that you don’t have direct control over, and the prioritisation grid will help you get control your time and workload and help you and your team to prioritise work and increase focus and productivity.

Session 2:

This session uses the vortex of Busyness to examine how we can become overwhelmed by work, working harder and harder and leaving no time to look after ourselves.  You will examine the wellbeing factors which help you to work better by getting a good work life balance and staying mentally fit.  You will explore the Drama Triangle to examine how you can get stuck in a victim or rescuer mentality – feeling helpless or like you have to do everything for your team.  The Coaching Pentagon is used to help you escape the Drama Triangle and have transformative conversation to help you and your colleagues solve your own problems.

This course is provided free of charge to staff employed within primary care in Cornwall, with funding sourced alternatively to the Education Programme subscription.

This course is for staff working within the Cornwall healthcare economy. If you work outside Cornwall and are interested in this course, please email [email protected]
