Leading from the Middle – Leadership Development Programme starting 13 July 2022

Our latest Leadership Programme is a 9-month bespoke development programme for practicing middle and senior managers in a GP Practice, who are seeking to move into a strategic leadership role, or want to develop to be more effective in their existing role.

This programme has been developed to reflect the challenges of leading in primary care in Cornwall.  It will be delivered via a blended learning model, incorporating 4 core modules, individual 1:1 coaching and completion of an Insights psychometric profile.  The programme will be delivered by Crisp Professional Development, an Exeter based company, with over 30 years experience of training and development and the company currently delivering the leadership programmes for the Clinical Directors and Central ICA.

Outcomes of the Programme

The programme is intended to achieve the following:

  • Provide insight and understanding into you as a leader and how you collaborate with, and influence others.
  • Develop strategic thinking as well as operational management skills to change/improve the Practice/PCN
  • Develop the ability to lead and motivate others, particularly in times of change while maintaining own resilience
  • Managing and leading complex and multi-disciplinary teams and competing demands
  • Develop knowledge and insight into leading change and supporting others through change

Course Overview

  • Completion of Insight Profile (6-13 June)
  • Introduction to Insights Workshop – Monday 13 June 11.30-1.00pm via Zoom
  • Individual 1:1 meeting to review insights profile (arranged on an individual basis between 13 June and 8 July)

  • Module 1: You as a Leader – Wednesday 13 July 2022, 9.30am-4.30pm (Venue TBC)
  • Module 2: Leading and Motivating Teams – Tuesday 20 September 2022 9.30am-4.30pm (Venue TBC)
  • Module 3: Change and Engagement – Thursday 24 November 2022 9.30am – 4.30pm (Venue TBC)
  • Module 4: Operational to Strategic – Tuesday 24 January 2023 9.30am-4.30pm (Venue TBC)
  • Reflective session – Wednesday 8 February 2023 9.30-12.30 (Venue TBC)

Participants must attend all elements of the programme.  The start date for the programme is 13 July, but please note you must complete an online survey to inform your personal profile in June.  This will be followed by an individual discussion on your profile prior to the start of the course.  You will also be able to access up to 4 individual coaching sessions arranged at a time to suit you.

Course Cost

This course is funded through the Training Hub via retention funding.  However, due to the cost of places on this course, we will charge your practice £250 if you are no longer able to keep your place and we are unable to find a substitute.
