Understanding that, as individuals, we all have different perceptions of the world around us is the basis of understanding our own potential for bias. This session will start by exploring our natural tendency for bias, as part of this we consider those ‘micro behaviours’ that show up in different ways in the workplace, what these might be and the potential unintentional consequences this can have on our employees and colleagues. We will develop an understanding of the positive impact of having greater diversity within our work teams as well as some of the challenges that this can bring, and finally, we will consider the legal and employment perspective – the Protected Characteristics in the workplace.
