This is a new course which will allow staff from non-mental health disciplines to increase their knowledge of suicide prevention.
This course will offer a basic introduction to suicide prevention and will also briefly explore self-harm. The course will increase your ability to spot people who may be at risk, and increase your confidence in asking questions about suicide and signposting people for further support. Some basic theories about why people die by suicide will be explored, and there will be a brief introduction to a framework that can be used to assess risk. Lastly the course will describe a Safety Planning intervention.
