Mark Woolcock Chief Executive Officer
Mark has held a variety of roles within this – and predecessor- organisations, initially joining as ‘Lead Clinician’ before taking the ‘Consultant Paramedic and Clinical Lead’ role. Throughout these times Mark has also worked as a clinician providing telephone triage and face to face visits either the patient’s own home or a treatment centre. Since June 2018 Mark has worked as the Chief Operating Officer of the ‘Integrated Urgent Care Service’ which encompasses the 111 telephony and the conventional Out of Hours GP service. In August 2020 he took over the role of Chief Executive Officer on a two year secondment.
Dr Jonathan Katz Medical Director
Dr Katz is KHCIC's Medical Director. He has previously been the Deputy Medical Director and Chair of KHCIC. He was a senior GP partner and GP trainer in Cornwall with 25 years of general practice experience. In other roles he has a special interest in medicines management and is currently the Chair of the Cornwall Area Prescribing Committee and Medicines Optimisation Programme Board and a prescribing lead GP for Kernow CCG. He was a former Vice Chair of the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly LMC and is a current committee member. He is a GP appraiser for NHSE&I.
Maria Harvey Director of Integrated Community Care Services
Maria started her career in social care at Cornwall Council, where she worked for 25 years. She started that career as a Welfare Rights Officer and ended her Cornwall Council stint as Senior Manager for Commissioning, Contracts and Service Improvement. She joined Kernow Health CIC in 2016 as she was interested in the new challenges KHCIC were offering. She leads the School Immunisation Team, along with the Children’s Eating Disorder Service.
Laura Wheeler Director of Integrated Primary Care Services
Laura has worked locally and regionally with the Local Authority and many sectors of the NHS in the South West, including the Workforce Development Confederation and Strategic Health Authority. She has successfully implemented national strategies and programmes across multiple trusts in a collaborative way. Laura has been involved in a range of significant change programmes, from operational improvement and change management in designing and implementing needs-based workforce plans at scale, to strategic implementation of integrated care. Passionate about service improvement and integrated partnership working, Laura continues to support collaborative working locally and regionally in order to support Primary Care across Cornwall and a whole system approach to sustainable health and care.’
Kieran Bignell Director of Integrated Urgent Care
Kieran has worked across a variety of roles in various organisations gaining and gathering a wide range of experience from various areas of both private and public sector. This spans from being a qualified plumber and group workout instructor to working as a Paramedic within various primary and emergency service settings and Clinical Lead for Cornwall 111 IUCS prior to his current role as Director of IUCS and System Director if Urgent and Emergency care operations. Kieran is still keen to maintain front line clinical shifts within the service with both telephone triage and face to face clinical assessment. Following this experience, Kieran has gained a hunger for innovation and using his experience from various sectors to avoid doings things the way we’ve always done if there’s a better alternative on the horizon.
Tyra Fox Director of Corporate Services
Tyra joined the Kernow Health Team in January 2019 as the Business Manager, supporting the running of the Corporate Services function. Since then her role has grown and evolved and her current role sees her leading the team as Director of Corporate Services, overseeing Head Office administration, IT and the HR function. She has experience in varying disciplines, including office management, Board governance, project management and general HR Management. Her main passions (outside of Kernow Health) are walking her two collie dogs and exploring life in her campervan!
