Kernow Health Community Interest Company was founded in April 2011 to create a clinically-led Referral Management Service (RMS) for practices in North, Mid and West Cornwall.
The RMS helps patients choose and book appointments that are convenient to them and supports high quality referrals that reduce wastage and improve the patient journey; it has become a successful model which has since been replicated in other areas of the UK.
With the RMS established, its operational control passed to NHS Kernow (Clinical Commissioning Group) when they formed; Kernow Health is no longer associated with the RMS. This enabled a change of purpose for Kernow Health CIC.
In June 2015, Kernow Health CIC, in partnership with Devon Doctors, won the contract to deliver the Out of Hours Service in Cornwall operating under the name ‘Cornwall Health’.
In late 2015, we formed a partnership with Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust to successfully win the contract to deliver Adult Community Health Services in Cornwall & Isles of Scilly from 1st April 2016. The aim was to ensure really effective re-integration of Community Teams back into general practice.
