Cornish health & care providers host free virtual recruitment fair

26th January, 2022

Health and care providers in Cornwall are collaborating to host a free virtual recruitment fair.

The event on 10th February 2022 will provide a unique opportunity for current and prospective health and care professionals from across the UK to hear from local experts about the wealth of opportunities to start or develop their career in health and care in Cornwall, and get a flavour of working life in this stunning county.

In what is hoped to be a regular, annual event,  experts from a range of services will be delivering a programme of sessions to attract new talent from those that live in the county already and those that may wish to relocate.

Representatives from Cornwall’s acute hospital, primary care, nursing, pharmacies, social care teams, therapists, urgent care and community teams - as well as apprenticeships and volunteer services - will be holding sessions throughout the day to give a flavour of what to expect from working in our innovative and vibrant health and care community across Cornwall.

Advice will also be given on training and development along with a series of talks about life in each of the three integrated care areas in Cornwall: North and East, Central, and West Cornwall with information for those wishing to relocate to Cornwall.

It is the first time that all the organisations involved in providing care services to the community of Cornwall have come together to give a real insight into working life in the health and care sector, and the invitation for attendees is being extended across the country.

Laura Wheeler, Director of Integrated Primary Care for Kernow Health CIC and Acting System Director of Workforce said:We want to let people know that Cornwall is open for business and we have some incredible opportunities for people to develop a fantastic career here.  With the investment in our transport links, Cornwall is now more accessible than ever, with flight links to London and the North, and an upgraded road system it’s a great time to consider all that we have to offer here. People will know Cornwall for its rugged coast and beautiful fishing villages, but there is also a variety of vibrant towns and cultural establishments and activities. We really do offer something for everyone.”

The recruitment fair is a unique event as these providers team-up to give an insight into the health and care sector in Cornwall, and explain why working in any one of these highly respected professions is more than just a job.

The free event is open to anyone with an interest in working in health and care, not just those currently based in Cornwall – there is a flexible programme of sessions throughout the day which can be accessed via the event link: HERE or via the Kernow Health CIC event page HERE.
